Hírnév szint: 6 ![]() | Other point-based games?
Since all games here are grouped by game, I have to choose to post this in a particular game's forum. Hopefully this doesn't tick off gurps players too much. I've played two point-based games: Hero and GURPS, and am not quite satisfied with either. I wish I knew of a game that incorporated the things I like about both... Hero has too many stats, and combat takes too long. On the plus side, I like the skill buying costs in Hero better: 3 pts to buy a skill at base, with a fixed price for increases and a tiered system of skill levels to cover various sized groups of skills. GURPS stats are too expensive, and became even more expensive in 4e. GURPS lets you buy a skill for only 1pt and skill have a decent chance with it (not enough of a commitment, imo), increases to skills quickly become too expensive, and skill levels with groups of skills are poorly defined even in 4e. On the plus side, it's simpler and combat moves more quickly. It's a bit easier to make a GURPS character than a Hero character for a new player. I guess I would like a point-based game that: - has reasonably priced stats, and few of them - has skills that cost several points for a base skill roll - has skill levels that players can use to increase blocks of skills at once. Yes, I often modify games I play. I could modify the GURPS rules to meet the requirements I want, but then I will further confuse my players. They are having a hard time already decyphering how to make characters and spend xp. hakootoko |

Unysistem by Eden Studios is a light point based general system (IMHO very good) but unlike Hero or GURPS the publisher tailor it to the ambientation (Witchcraft, Armaggeddon, All the Flesh Must Be Easten, use all the same general system). The base manual for Witchcraft is a free download from the Eden Studios site, so you can download it and check if you like it. http://www.edenstudios.net/witchcraf...ftCorebook.zip You can also try Fuzion (a free point based system, a mix of CP2020 and Hero). http://www.thefuze.com/ |

Another free point based universal system is JAGS, I don't like it very much, but I have a friend entusiastic about it. http://jagsgame.dyndns.org/index.php |

Other point systems I like: * BESM/Tri-Stat DX - Subtle difference between the two, both good. * Mutants and Masterminds - This can be used as a semi-generic system. I use it for a few things. * FATE: Fudge Edition - This is point-based more or less, and is very good if you like 'simple' systems. -Sigil |
