Racial Builds.

I'm not sure where this should be placed or how I should ask what I'm confused about, but here goes.

I'm looking over the races in the D20 system that have racial class levels... Now lets just take a simple race - Stone Child.

Race gets +8 Str, +8 Con, +2 Int, - 2 Cha. Now, if you look at the racial levels, it shows the Stone Child getting +8 Str, +6 Con and no other stats.

Ok, so now do you add what you get from the levels to the racial bonuses? From what I see that just becomes so powerful for a race with a +4 LA.

Any one sheed any light on this, even point me to an artical/book that can tell me about the race benifits and racial levels.

Yeah, the differen LA I've never really gotten around. The different attempts at explaining it in the books haven't help matters, most of the time it's "huh?"

As a bad side effect of picking some races, they come with a LA AND some racial classes. Take centaurs for example - 4 levels of monstrous humanoid and +2 LA


So, a first level centaur fighter would look like this:

4 Levels Monstrous humanoid, 1 level fighter, +2 LA = ECL 7. He should, technically, be equivilant to a level 7 human fighter.

It's the "equivalent" part that I don't always agree with.
