It would work well as a good 7th stat, where Charisma is defined as Force of Personality, and have diplomacy rely on both appearance and charisma. Ie: Charisma mod + Appearance mod / 2 = Diplomacy attribute This is similar to what is done in other systems as you know ![]() I find it silly that certain skills are tied to only one attribute for simplicity, when it makes no sense. Look in D&D, throwing is DEX, and throwing axes is STR. Yet realistically I am sure that throwing axes also relies on hand eye coordination, and same with darts, which would need STR (increases range potential etc...). Yet mechanically this is not the case. Even in skills that require brute strenght, there is always technique, which relies on handeye coordination to apply such str.

With darts you can't relly much on STR, if you know physics, you could understand why. Why? Because dart is light, you don't need too much force to throw it as far as your own body allows. If we would see throwing a heavier objects it would be harder to accelerate it to a decent speed. You can see the difference between a darts player and a heavy athlete from the olympics. The problem with appearance like stats is how do you define it. Can you link photos of a woman (should wear some clothes!) that could illustrate 18 in appearance? And what about 16? 14? etc. And do you think most people would agree with those scores, or you see they wouldn't be universal enough to make a good ability score? |

Darts player = set distance, unarmoured target board. Aerodynamics makes force irrelevant. But in combat, it can be important. Add str into it and the range possibility increases. Heavy athlete doesnt care as much about accuracy and more focus on distance for long throw.

well, many/most ppl take charisma also for the personal appearance adding a 7th stat, why not making the 12 stats from the old optional ... you know too much stuff can be too much and this seems to be one of those cases

TheElf: "Still waiting for the pictures Just to see how that stat would work..." maybe you could post them. I think this problem occurs with every stat, not just CHA. I like the old rules for 12 stats.

I'd describe an 18 something like... "The beauty of the character will cause heads to turn and hearts to race. Reaction for initial contact is at a percent equal to 150% of the comeliness score. Individuals of the opposite sex will be affected as if under a fascinate spell unless their wisdom exceeds two-thirds the creature's comeliness total..." It's been done before. |
