MMORPG's the new trend in computer games.. but are they really all that great for RP? Hmm I'm going to say no.. lets face it when you break it down.. when it comes to killing the uber lvl monsters for the uber lvl stuff.. its a very much a formula. people just figure out how to kill those monsters once and thats what they do everytime from then on. NWN had some good ideas on how to make an computer game more rp based but they failed in execution of technology.

NwN is good, and for DaOC you will see some contents soon that can proove where you are wrong. And if you want a free MMORPG where you don't figure out monster killing, but have plenty of other things to do: Runescape is your friend.

Time for a another later post on a dead topic. I just thought I'd throw out my little tidbit on City of Heroes. Yes, I know it's not the standard fantasy genre stuff, but my point is in the RP. It was amazing how many people in the game RPed their heroes. People seemed to actually have some personal investment in differentiating their characters. Nobody told or even asked the players to RP, they did it on their own. It was quite odd. I'm not sure exactly what to attribute this to. Perhaps it was simply the genre, or perhaps it was the extreme customization of the character's appearance. Something caused people to get more involved, and it was a lot of fun.
