| Administrator | New Feat: Created Nobility
The created nobility feat makes a character a minor noble, who created his own nobility. It is different from the noble blood feat in both abilities and disadvantages. The character with this feat is treated as a noble, with all of the legal consequences of it. The character can have his own land, and can have the leadership feat without meeting any level based requirements. The cost of his lands must be covered by the income of the character, but its value isn't included in his total wealth "allowed" for his level. The character also gains some initial income on purchasing this feat, but he must spend that on his lands. The character gains 4d10*100gp to spend on his estates when he created his noble status, which can be enhanced by other feats. Since the character has created nobility, his family isn't a noble family, so cannot support him in any way, and have no real influence over him. The other side of this situation, that the character alone is responsible for all the things a noble family should do, including military service, maintaining laws and order, collecting taxes, and everything else, including building things. So on a long run, the character will spend far more on his estate, than the initial income. |

hm... don´t like it : getting land with a feat hm... pretty much forcing the game somehow in a direction (DMs will often disallow it)
this sounds for me more like something which should be handled without feat, the only good side i see in this feat is to get leadership-feat earlier... gaining land / commerce etc should be handelt with the DM in meta and later "only" played out if wanted |

Zergnase: You look at it from a bad perspective. You say your player take it at 3rd level, but lets see it from other perspective. If your character is a new character... and you decide he is a noble it is good to represent that feat wise since it gives extra stuff. If your character acquires it in game... in a roleplaying game you roleplay getting it, then at next level you buy the stuff. Since you don't get weapon proficiency in katana without practicing it, and saying you bought the feat and you want to learn it in game also forces the DM... |

the feat does not give extra cash since cash is used for the land, no advantage game balance wise this is in my opinion better handled without feats, a feat does not qualify for this (or is wasted) since u can get all this without feat, just talk to the DM not all has to be done with feats |

I agree with Zerg, nobility is not something for a player to decide to have, it should be a reward granted by the DM. The option of making it a a level 1 only feat, can help to handel this, but if it doesn´t grant, the power, reputation or money to go with the title, it doesn´t realy work. If a player wants to be a noble, with all that acompany him, he can choose to take a lvl in the noble class, and if you want to help the story part of it, have the player take the lvl at starting lvl or give him access to the class as a reward. |
