    Map Maker

greetigns everyone. This is a quick question.

Anyone know any mape maker program that uses hex and has pre made hex with the terrain and we just have to "drag grop" to create our map?

im needing something simple cre create a big map with hex "puzzle" pieces. Anyone know anything like this ?

i have an example, but this one draws too small

    Thanks in advance,

    Re: Map Maker

Thought about it for a bit, since such programs are rare. Why? Because in most cases you would want more from a program and when it is the case, the program gets more and more complex. When you want multiple hex sizes, templates, you want to scale things, you will get to a program that is more than simple "drag and drop"

With new and new features you will simply get to the point where hex based maps are supported but most people don't use them since they have more powerful tools.

While Campaign Cartographer 3 can do what do you want, it isn't designed with simple drag and drop of hex pieces in mind, it is a far more complex and powerful tools.

But simple bitmap based solutions won't have many hex sizes, many symbol sets, etc

It is an old topic, but just in case someone is really bent on a simple hexmapper here are two links:

    www.mentalwasteland.net/HexMapper/

RPG Manager - Create and manage your own RPG worlds

I know of a third one, which is probably with fewest options but it is really the simplest possible hexmapper, but I did not link it since I do not know what is the forum policy on direct download links. There is a Yahoo group for it called Hexmapper Haven ( it's called same as one in the first link, but it's a different program ).

It's a free and small software by a, it seems now, defunct company; their website is down, that's why there's a direct link circulating.

    Re: Map Maker

Well, I downloaded the Hexmapper and checked the license, and though I'm sure the program was free for download at the official site, the license doesn't say it's free to distribute, so to be on the safe side, interested people should just go to the Yahoo group. It's easy to join and they have lots of new hexes.

Consequently, I stumbled upon another hex mapper :

    http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?500000013335

So, now you have no more excuses to use those shiny detailed professional looking maps!

    Well, who doesn't?

But some people just want that old school feel from time to time.

I'm so lazy, though, I just take a pencil and scribble it on a piece of paper.
