• Kingdom of Draethar

Some rebel nobles from Genothar and criminals from the same kingdom escaped from the lands of Genothar, and took some lands for themself soon after. They try to be different from Genothar, but racism, importance of nobility, cruelty and demonic ties remained. They try to follow the ideals present in Drag'ethor, without knowing much about their ideology and the reasons behind them.

Due to the lack of divine spellcasters magical healing is rare, but there are advancements in mundane way of healing, too bad that the experiments they used to learn this art weren't too ethical. Well... it was normal for a culture where most people thinks murder and torture is good, and a display of strenght, ignoring the reasoning behind them.

They pursue strenght and display of strenght often, and for this they need both cruelty, strong armies for noble houses, some allies, and also luxuries to show their status. Most of their economy is based on trading and manufacturing luxuries, from wine to silk and lace. For the clothes made from their silk and lace most women would pay a small fortune, but sadly they would have to also pay good money for protection if they want it made for their size.

It is dangerous to visit a country where racism is common, where they treat women as a property, a valued property, something they protect from others (but can abuse themself) but still a property. Where torture and killing for entertainment are common.

With all these luxuries and this treatment for women they tend to run the best and most exclusive borthels, and many of their people opened such borthels elsewhere as well. Also they often train slaves, and they tend to train women to be perfect brides. Such schools can be very expensive.

And since you need protection in most cases to survive in this country, and many houses have private armies and assassins there are quite a lot of fighting schools there as well. The bodyguards you can hire there are famous.

While they inherited both rigid caste systems and rigid laws, the laws often change based on who interprets them, the rule of the stronger people is considered absolute.

what kind of advances in mundane healing did they made?
how does this changed the status and the standing of the churchs?
how about the spread of diseases?
did they also advanced the hygienics, like implemented a sewer system to get the infectious stuff and the stuff the which is a perfect breading ground for all those nasty viruses and bactteries away from the folks? how about fresh flowing water for the houses? is it common to cook water before using it? how about general hygienics like washing the hands etc?

As you might see church isn't important in Draethar.

      Sewer system: no

Flowing water: Not in most cases.

Cooking water before using it: known.

Alchemical healing potions, herbalism, mundane medicine, knowledge of anatomy: Significant advances.

      no sewer systems?

definitively a point which needs to be invented...
less smells stuff on the streets
      less disease spreading
more adventure possibilities in the cities underground
      more options for smuggling
also the options for the chars to say: "ah venice" (indiana jones 3)

The smelly stuff part is handled differently. Will explain that in a later article.

Also the effects on disease is different, etc.

excrements on the streets surely increase the spreading of diseases in area and speed

besides so or so are sewers way to handy for the DM and the players to not invent them !!!

But smelly stuff doesn't end up on streets (for good reasons)

in the old times it did...

But in the old times most cities weren't built underground, most houses had windows as light source, and people used those windows to throw junk out and this way garbage ended up on the streets. When we speak about things built underground, no use for windows as light source, etc. then things should be different.

yes they just thru out their junk trash and smelly stuff

--> sewer --> less problem with smelly stuff
