    Your favorite items

I know that when zergnase gives tactical advice for character creation, it tends to have 2 things almost always included. The first tends to be redicing the amount of money spent on clothes, jewelry, home, items at home and other stuff that aren't related to adventuring.

The other one tends to be a wand with some curative magic in it. And he often says: A such wand has the best hp / gp ratio for healing, and if a character has limited amount of spells it is a good way to use a wand instead of spell slots for healing. It is more effective.

Do you have any such "favorite" items?

false, must be some sort of spliten personality or something like that. proper clothes are needed but as adventurer you usualy try to protect yourself (either by protection or by killing it faster then it kills you).

so armor, weapons are handy for fighters and so...
ability enhancement items are always nice (our house rule, you get em also with an odd modifier, same price calculation)

of course, if you can prevent your death/feel better for less GP then other way would cost ...
never under estimate the power of int 10 or higher. in the real world people are smartshoper (buy where it is cheap, or buy the bundle with best price/gain ratio), so why shouldn´t people in an RPG act different??

I think if you heal with wands, you don't need a "healer" type character, and for this reason everyone should provide his own healing, right? Then why your heaing wands aren't that common?

    Re: Your favorite items

you ever read a D&D adventure?

cure ... wound wands are quiet common.

and i never said to only use the wands for healing

i some situations it is just better to use the wands and save your own spells to be used for something else
(like infiltration of an enemy base, free prisoner, do some sabotage, escape there you might have to spend a bunch of your spells to get the prisoners up to health so they can survive an arrow or so
or the often meet situation that you have to clean an enemy base of operations, if you withdraw to replenish HPs, Spells, get new items etc, they fill up their ranks to full numbers / bolster their resistance even further if you give em toooooo much time and you get more hurt and the word of your attack might spread to perhapse other enemy groups. but when you can sweep the area clean in one strike, no backup, less likely that other enemy groups get alerted so you might them as well catch off guard !!

there is also the point where your group decided not to rest and gets into trouble, cleric / healer / favored soul / etc nearly out of spells and in the fight the divine caster have to use up their last spells for something else (remove paralysis for example is realy handy when needed) and then you still have a (few) wand(s) with cheap healing as backup, trust me you will love em !!! when cured you can sleep better else you might wake up each couple of ... because you turned and then pain....
Where are my snacks, and where the heck is my BBQ-sauce ???
