I'm informed the modelling area was reasonably organised when that photo was taken As for the rest of the room, I have no control over things which don't belong to me - I wouldn't want to risk my life by tidying any of it up!

The Fokker looks really good, I take it that is the Eduard ProfiPack kit by the photoetch gun? I have this model in the normal version to build but will probably get this one as well to compare.

How did you achieve the mottled effect on the cowling, I have painted silver cowlings but they never seem to have the same effect, is it technique or a particular paint.

Pictures from the show are good, there was certainly a wide range of kits there. It has wet my appetite to try and get to some local ones in my area as well.

As for being disorganised in my photos, I carefully framed my photos to show the part I had just tidied up It does not look that good now

Nope – no Eduard parts were used in the build – too much like cheating and making life easy for myself!
The Revell supplied machine gun is probably the poorest part of the kit – only bears a passing resemblance to a machine gun – so replaced it as follow.
    • I have a stock of sheets of photoetch grill/grid in various sizes that came as part of a modelling job lot on ebay. I cut a rectangle of the etch grid, then rolled it into the appropriate size cylinder to surround the gun barrel – cut from some evergreen rod with the end drilled out with a microdrill.
    • The cylinder of etch and barrel were affixed to the opposite end of the barrel gun on the Revell kit part (this gave me something to hold and would later be cut off.)
    • The gap around the barrel as it emerged from the cylinder of etch at the “bullet comes out here end” was filled with Humbrol Clear Fix.
    • Some small pieces of very thin copper wire was then used to represent necessary levers on the gun stock and a sight. The wire (lots of it) came from the insides of a Sony 21” CRT monitor which I smashed in the back garden - it fits in the bin better once you have taken a sledge hammer to it!)
    • Whole thing was then brush painted with Humbrol 53 Gun Metal, then a dry brush of Humbrol 11 Silver.
    • Finally – 1mm pieces of the aforementioned copper wire were glued lengthwise against each other, their ends sanded to more of a point – to make the ammunition belt. Possibly inaccurate in colour – but looks right to me

So – very satisfying piece of work which took longer to describe than build!

Windscreen – piece of clear plastic from some packaging
Undercarriage struts – too thick to my eyes from the kit – so some paring down with a sharp knife thinned them to my satisfaction

Overall comments on the kit – for £2.99 you can't actually go wrong! – I had to buy a second kit just for the decals after botching the first batch.

Oh – almost forget the base. Take one large Christmas barrel of Maltesers, eat Maltesers, discard drum, take lid, trim edge, cover with railway modelling grass and paint edges with Revell Black gloss paint.

Next on the workbench – Revell Eurofighter Typhoon – on hold following fuselage construction and awaiting courage to use the dreaded Revell paint mix to get the colours right. ESCI Opel Blitz with Flak 38, ESCI Jagdtiger, Academy Jeep, Kubelwagen & Kettenrad almost finished – need weathered.

When I first looked I did not notice it was a Revell Fokker, just saw the machine gun and thought Eduard. It really does look very good and I am going to have to have a go at building the machine guns how you said. Just need to get some parts and I will have a go.
I have got both the Revell Fokker E.III and Eduard Fokker E.IV, so I may have a go at the Revell one in my next batch I build. Also got some of the old Smer 1/48 kits that I am going to have a go at next, plenty of scratch building and modifying there
