    Real world caves.

A couple of years ago, my family took a vacation with a "caving" theme to it. A couple of very good real-world cave complexes would be "Tha Lost Sea" and "Mammouth Caves", both in Kentuky, USA, I believe, but my memory may have put the sea in the wrong state...

The lost sea is a pretty good sized underground lake which would make a wonderful lair for a Black Dragon. Having been out on the lake I could give players a great deal of descriptive detail, to say the least...

Same for the Mammouth Caves. Our two-hour trip (our group made good time according to our guide) covered about 2 miles of the hundreds of miles of passages and caves discovered so far. Picked up a lot of ideas from that too, ambush points, places perfect for kobolds to fight from with a great advantage (remember to put fallen rock, kobold-sized passages, etc into your caves. Defenders would get a huge bonus. Cave fighting would be tough...)

    Hope this gives someone ideas,

    GW

    Re: Real world caves.

Theres some fantastic caves in New Zealand. Unfortauntely I didnt have time to visit them but they are big, and full of glow-worms, and have a profoundly eerie look to them. Perfect mood for an adventure!

    Cheers!
I have seen the future. And it is just like the present, only longer.
